The healthcare industry is complex, requiring careful coordination, accountability, and extensive data management. Without the right support, managing these moving parts can quickly become overwhelming. That’s where Clinisys EMR comes in.

Founded in 2011, Clinisys EMR is a Canadian health technology company that provides electronic medical records (EMR) systems. With over a decade of experience, the company offers intelligent software solutions, data migration services, and expert data consulting to healthcare providers across Canada.

Leveraging AI to Transform Healthcare

Mahedi Sayed, President and CEO of Clinisys EMR, envisions a future where artificial intelligence (AI) plays a key role in reducing healthcare burnout. He believes AI integration will enhance efficiency and support healthcare professionals in their daily work. Sayed’s office, located in the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) at the Edmonton Research Park, is just a few doors down from Technology Alberta, where he also serves as Board Chair.

“AI and ML have been steadily growing across all industries, including healthcare […] Clinisys is one of the early companies in Canada that adopted AI and ML into its services.”

Sayed proudly expresses that Clinisys EMR has been actively developing and deploying AI and ML innovations in healthcare services since 2014 – only three years after the company’s inception. “AI and ML have been steadily growing across all industries, including healthcare,” he says. “Clinisys is one of the early companies in Canada that adopted AI and ML into its services.”

Strategic Partnerships & Collaborations Drive Innovation

A major milestone for Clinisys EMR came in 2017 when the company partnered with Microsoft Canada to leverage Azure’s cloud computing technology. This collaboration enhanced the scalability, security, and efficiency of Clinisys EMR’s services, including data migration, storage, and pre-analytics data cleaning. Clinisys has also integrated with Microsoft Teams to provide virtual care capabilities, and Sayed reveals that Clinisys is currently testing new AI tools from Microsoft to further innovate its EMR system.

Sayed also emphasizes the importance of collaboration within Alberta’s technology ecosystem, particularlywith Technology Alberta. Since 2006, Technology Alberta has supported thousands of tech companies, helping build momentum by creating value-driven connections and collaborations.

“Clinisys has been at the forefront of supporting local students and researchers,” says Sayed, attributing some of the company’s success to Technology Alberta’s empowerment.

Programs curated and championed by Technology Alberta, like the ASTech Awards, FIRST Jobs, and Friendly Fridays, connect researchers, job seekers, and industry leaders, fueling Alberta’s innovation landscape.By collaborating with government agencies, academic institutions, and researchers worldwide, Clinisys contributes to cutting-edge advancements in healthcare technology.

Shaping the Future of Healthcare Technology

Beyond EMR software solutions, data migration, and data consulting, Clinisys EMR has a growing medical device division with projects already in the pipeline.
